About Doron Tal
My point of view, way of being, and vision.
Perspective
I am a constant observer and investigator of reality, and the curiosity came before the profession. What carried across every field I worked in was a way of reading structure: the habit of looking at something I did not design and working out what actually holds it together, what is incidental to it, and what happens when one condition moves.
A structural view is the perspective that remains once the domain-specific technique is set aside. Two habits hold it in place: I read the thing itself rather than the account of it, and I read a part through what it meets.
Capabilities
- Discernment
- Reading a situation with direct attention to what is present, and separating what is essential in it from what is merely there.
- Decision clarity
- Sharpening a decision by reducing doubt rather than by adding information, and naming the obstacles that can be foreseen so the action is adjusted before they arrive.
- Systemic reading
- Working with patterns, mechanisms, and the mutual influence between the elements of a system.
- Method under insufficiency
- When information is missing, or two sources disagree, the move is to stop, say exactly what is missing, and offer the ways it could be completed. An unknown quietly converted into an assumption passes without a mark, which is what makes it hard to find later.
- Structural adaptation
- Working inside the structure that already exists, and fitting the reading to it rather than the other way round.
Practice
The work moves in three.
- IdentificationI begin by reading what is already in place, before anything is proposed.
- PrecisionI connect that reading to one action. Real precision is not total knowledge; it is the ability to discern, in real time, which choice is the most right one, and it keeps being corrected while the work moves.
- FocusI hold that line at the pace the work actually needs, staying flexible enough to adapt as conditions change.
Way of Being
I do not accompany someone through their situation. We move through it together, and the difference is not courtesy: an advisor who leads keeps the reading, and the person is left holding a conclusion they cannot reproduce.
So I work as active quiet rather than as direction. The useful thing in the room is usually not another opinion; it is attention held steadily enough that a person can hear their own. One focused meeting that returns someone to their own judgement is worth more than a relationship they have to maintain, and it is the outcome I am actually working towards.
What that asks of me is persistence and flexibility at the same time - holding a line while conditions move, and saying plainly when something is unknown rather than filling it. Cooperation here is voluntary at every step, because a decision someone was moved into is not a decision they own.
Vision
To enable a person to navigate change by discerning what is right for them, recognising what is already present and acting from within.
What makes that reachable is rarely more information. The people I work with already carry decisions and already hold a direction; what they meet is a field where everything present looks equally relevant, and a saturated field does not sort itself. Reading it is the work.
The same intent runs through the research and the systems. A method should state what it may not claim, and a system should hold to the discipline it describes. All of it is the same commitment as the one in the room: leave the judgement where it belongs, and make it possible to use.
